In the year 1940, P.S. Arthur, a young school headmaster, along with his wife, a teacher, were serving the community near Madurai. God blessed this couple abundantly, with four daughters and two sons. Then calamity struck this family! In November 1954, the mother died suddenly and quietly, after a week long illness at the age of 38. In November 1956, the father followed suit, succumbing to a respiratory illness, at the age of 44, leaving the children orphaned and almost penniless. There were no takers among the extended family, to care for the six young ones!

The younger son, still in his single digit age, moved from home to a boarding school, a hostel and finally to an engineering college. He went on to become a senior leader at BHEL, over a 30 year period. During this time, he continued to see friends and colleagues struggle through similar circumstances. He felt the urge to help people going through a crisis. Along with friends and colleagues who had a similar calling, Christian Comforting Ministries was formed.
